From Italy to Venezuela

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Thank you Suan.

This is the most receant info I have.
Francesco Antonio Sangiovanni, born in Mormanno Cosenza on Nov 14th 1854. Son of Antonio Sangiovanni and Maria Giuseppa Confesore.

I still have to double check his parents’ names with the ones of Cayetana Sangiovanni (mother of Vicenzo De Lucca Sangiovanni) to be 100% sure I found my greatgranfather (most likley she was born in the same commune).

Waiting for microfilm.

Thank you.

Guys I need some help here.

I received the birth certificate from the Mormano Comune but my greatgrandfather’s middle name doesn’t show up on it (It wasn’t recorded). However, in all other legal docs. issued in Venezuela it does appear.
Do you think that would give me troubles at the moment of requesting Italian citizenship?
How common was it for people not to register their children middle name?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise on this.

Emiro: in Italy exist, for all persons, only the first name and the last name.. now when you say the middle name what you want mean...
In ESTRATTO ATTO DI NASCITA are the JUST, RIGHT, REAL first name( or first names) and surname of ancestor, and first name father and first name and last name of mother, more birthdate and birthplace, and number act on commonal birthregistry... so I think that with middle name you means the mother surname as in use in south America, and if is this your problem, well no problem for you, why no problem for italian citizenship... please explane me better ... thanks, suanj

Zayzai,

Suggest deleting the above posts & doing a "New Topic" post for your family.

Provide as much info that you know.........names, birth yars, where they settled in US., etc.

What records do you have for this family?
Researching in San Vitaliano, Napoli, Italy & Armento, Potenza, Italy.
