Ship manifests - Italy to South America

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Ship manifests - Italy to South America

Post by jllaf »

There used to be several websites available that contained ship manifest records from Italy to Buenos Aires and Brazil. The links no longer seem to work. Is anything searchable available online?

Thanks,
John

Peter - I've been told one of my ancestors went to South America rather than the US and I'm trying to research that hypothesis.

You might find the following websites helpful in your search:

This website lists passengers to Argentina for the years 1882 to 1920. https://sites.google.com/site/barcosdeagnelli/Listado

I've also used the cemla site but the url I have linking to the passenger lists doesn't work now.
(i.e. http://www.cemla.com/busqueda.php# ) You could try them here though: http://cemla.com/buscador/

Apellido - surname
Nombre – Christian name
Desde – where from

Then there is this site which combines various websites. It is possibly still in the developmental stages, and may not cover the years you are wanting.

If you happen to know or locate the name of the ship then I can ascertain the date and possibly the port(s). Peter
