Ship Manifest - Pietrina Vassallo - From Palermo

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Ship Manifest - Pietrina Vassallo - From Palermo

Post by Timmwill »

Hi everyone,

I am trying to track down the ship manifest for a Pietrina (Pietra) Vassallo who was born 7/22/1885 in Palermo.

She was supped to have sailed on the Sofia Hoenberg and arrived New York on June 13 or 20,
1906. The ship might be different.

I can only find a Pietra Vassallo (age 11) who came with a family and is not the one. She supposedly came with a brother - not sure of name...?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Timm :-)

On the ship manifest for the Sofia Hohenberg, arriving NY 22 June 1906 from Palermo...
I believe (because the ink is VERY FADED) that Pietrina was transcribed as Antoina...

What I see is Pietrina(?) Vassallo, age 21, from Palermo, going to join her brother Giuseppe Pietro Salvatore Vassallo at 194 President(?) St., Brooklyn

It also looks like she may have begun naturalization process based on the numbers written line.

MAYBE this is your Pietrina???
She is on line 11
