Grandmother's immigration to America

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Grandmother's immigration to America

Post by bernie2348 »

My Grandmother Marana Trusso came to New York from Tortorici, Sicily between 1910 and 1912 (I think). I can't seem to find exactly what date and what ship when I check on Ancestry.com. There doesn't seem to be a record of her travel on a ship's registry.

A Maria Trusso departed from Palermo on the ship Algeria, but it was in 1907.

Castle Garden has a record of a Mariarosa Trusso, age 16, arriving 19 Jun 1912 on the Oceania. Tortorici is the place of last residence. Check this link to see if this looks like your "Marana".
