How to or where do we go
Hello! Thank you for the wonderful site! We have the patriarch who came from Canipofeliee, Sicily, Italy - ended up in California City, PA. That was Salvatore Vavonese DOB 11/07/1888 DOD 07/1976 who married Nunzia (Nancy) Vavonese (maiden name possibly Gugliuzza or Gugluzzi?). We're not sure if she was here first - according to her SS# it is possible. They had 8 children - Joe, Anthony, Frank, Kathryn, Angelo, Anna, Donna, and Virginia. Of those 8 children, how do we find their spouses and children? Thanks for any input, you can reply to this message or email us!

Re: How to or where do we go
I believe that the correct spelling of the town of origin of your patriarch is Campofelice. In the Province of Palermo there are two towns (villages):
Campofelice di Roccella and Campofelice di Fitalia.
Campofelice di Roccella and Campofelice di Fitalia.
Re: How to or where do we go
Hi Vince & Traci, wellcome to the forum
on italian white pages (www.paginebianche.it) i found 5 Gugliuzza in Campofelice di Roccella (i heard this surname in province of Palermo, not gugluzzi)
this is the official website town hall of campofelice di roccella (it is only in italian):
http://www.comune.campofelicediroccella.pa.it/
best regards

I'm searching lost relatives and descendant of my greatgrandfather Vincenzo Genualdi (or Gennaldi or Genuardi) and my greatgrandmother Concetta Davola (their sons: Angela, Carmela, Antonio, Bartolomeo, Ernesto, Simone, Riccardo, Maria) went in Chicago,Ill., and New Orleans, in 1880-1920 from Sicily. Other family related : Jacobucci or Jacopucci (from Central Italy).
Re: How to or where do we go
Have you placed the family on any US records?
Do you know an approximate year of birth for wife and children?

hi Vince and Tracy...
I found that Vavanese possible is not the right spell of the last name because in italy it doesn't exist....
Could it be Veronese???
I found an arrival manifest for a Salvatore Veronese, from Campofelice, age 11, travelling with his brother? Giuseppe joining their father Giuseppe Veronese in Pittsburg...
New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Salvatore Veronese
Name: Salvatore Veronese
Arrival Date: 2 Mar 1900
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1889
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ethnicity/RaceÂ/Nationality: Italian
Ship Name: Kaiser Wilhelm II
Search Ship Database: Search the Kaiser Wilhelm II in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: New York, New York

Do you have the correct arrival manifest for Salvatore?

Re: How to or where do we go
The record shows birthplace of Campofelice:
World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Salvatore Bavanese
City: Not Stated
County: Washington
State: Pennsylvania
Birthplace: Palermo;Italy
Birth Date: 7 Nov 1888
Race: Caucasian (White)
Roll: 1926885
DraftBoard: 4
But the spelling of VAVONESE, only turns up Fortunata.

Your best bet would be to see if you can locate obituaries for any of the family members. I believe these are the SSDI records for Salvatore and Nunzia. The obituary notices in the Syracuse papers might have information on their children/grandchildren and daughter/son in laws.
