Davi and Micale family of Bronte, Italy

Post by jnl3589 »

I am looking for information about the Davi and Micale family of Bronte, Catania Italy. My great-great grandfather's name is Vito Davi born 1856 and he married an Anna Schiros. He had a sister named Antonia Davi born 1850 who married a Gaetano Lupo. Vito's parent's names were Giuseppa Micale and Ignazio Davi. Vito had 5 children (Ignazio, Guiseppe, Carlo, Caterina and Maria) who all moved to New York. If anyone is related or has any information about the Davi's or Micale's and can help me I would appreciate it.

Thank you, Marty, for your compliments! :-) Just a little revision...
Giuseppe Davì, age 21, son of master Biagio and Concetta Messina, married to Antonina Pettinato, age 18, daughter of the late master Ignazio Pettinato and Maria Taccia.
The priest who celebrated the marriage was Vito Davì (maybe a groom's relative?)

Thank you for replying again, you've been so helpful. Is there any way to find out their occupations? Also I assume the title "don" and "donna" may be an honorific...if so, is there someway I can find out more information about this specifically regarding Mancani?

To know their occupations, you have to see the civil records. "Don" and "Donna" were honorifc, but they were used for little land owners as for very rich or noble people.
Civil records for Forza d'Agrò are available here:
