Salvatore Gagliano from Napoli

Post by Gags »

Hi,

Thanks for all the great work on this forum!
I've been trying for years to gather more info on my family, but I can't seem to get much on my great grandparents. I'd love to see more documents, such as birth or marriage certificates, and also to know what district in Napoli they lived.

Here's what I have so far:
Great grandfather: Salvatore Gagliano
Born: around 1888
Arrival in NY: 1906
As found on the 1920 US Census:
o Laborer (we think he was a baker, though)
o Illiterate
o Living on First Ave in Italian Harlem, NYC - my dad has confirmed this as well as the children's names.

Married to Amelia, maiden name possibly Fiore
Born around 1887
Arrival in NY: 1912, according to the 1920 US census.

Two out of the four children were born in Italy, Alveria (~1908) and Eugene (~1906), but I cannot find anything on them either. I tried looking at Ellis Island for Amelia's arrival to NY with the children, but didn't find them.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
