Sgambati's from Avella

Post by JSgambati »

I am looking to research the Sgambati Family from Avella. I am trying to obtain names/dates for individuals who did not come to America. I know Liberato Sgambati married Angelina DeFazio and they had children and lived in Avella. One of the sons, Silverio Sgambati, was a Franciscan Priest in the Monastery in Avella. I am also trying to find out how to contact the monastery to get information on him.

Thank you so much for your reply. Liberato Sgambati and Angelina DeFazio Sgambati were born about 1860-1862. They had children who were born in Avella/Avellino between the late 1870's and 1880's. I do not know if I have a complete listing of all the children. I could provide what information I have if it would be helpful.

Thank you. I think I remember reading somewhere that the convent is closed now. Do you where to write to in Avella to try and obtain birth certificates?

You can write to:

Comune di Avella
Ufficio Stato Civile
Piazza Municipo 1, - Avella 83021 (Av)

email: anagrafe@comune.avella.av.it

Remember you have to be as accurate as you can with the dates in your request.
