Re: Fanning out the family.
Mike, I also thought you might like to see this site in case you haven't seen it yet. It explains the marking on the manifests..

I didn't see that site yet, it's a big help. I might be able to do this by myself now. Thanks.

I hope you don't mind my hoping on your thread. If you search this board for "LPC," there is a thread of mine about my grandmother who was also detained at Ellis Island. This particular link helped me understand the board of special inquiry hearings and the markings on the manifest related to that. I have also done a lot of google searches with board of special inquiry and Ellis Island and have uncovered some info. about the process. I am waiting for the results of a FOIA request for a possible transcript of the hearings because my grandmother's case was appealed. I understand that the only chance of a transcript surving is if the case was appealed.

This is a link to one of my favorite sites regarding the board of special inquiry. If I get a reply to my FOIA request, I hope to get some of the information that is similar to this site:

Re: Fanning out the family.
Poipuo, thank you for the help. The site worked very well for me, I think I understand it now. I would like to find out some more info on a possible obituary for a Mary Riolo, the problem when she got married her name changed but I don't know it. She had a daughter named Bunny, and lived in Stamford. I wish I knew more Her mother was Jennie and father was Joseph (just incase an old census comes up) I would like to learn of her children...Thanks!

This is the web site for the Ct State Library, which could have some useful info.
http://www.cslib.org/handg.htm
Also, if you go to www.ct.gov and click on the links for towns, you can view Stamford's web page. Perhaps you can get a copy of Mary's marriage certificate, which would indicate her marriage name. The CT State Library has films of marriages until 1900, I believe. The rest have to be obtained from the particular municipality.

Re: Fanning out the family.
I have been researching the Terranova/Palma family. My mother-in-law was a sister of John Terranova, the boxer. I know the whole family; attended John's funeral; cared for his parents' gravesites. I am trying to find out what his mother Michelina's maiden name was. I may also have further information regarding this family that someone may be looking for.
It's really great to be able to connect with others who are searching same families. I look forward to hearing further.

Cora Lee,
Welcome to IG! Can you verify that John Joseph was born in Baranello on 1 Dec 1896? If so, his mother's maiden name would be on his birth act. Following appears to be his immigration record traveling with his sibling Raffaele and mother. See lines 15-17. Also check out line 20--Vito Palma also last residence Baranello, destination brother-in-law Giuseppe Terranova.

Re: Fanning out the family.
Hello! I know it's been years since your post but my grandmother is Florence Milillo, sister of Ralph. Just thought I'd touch base.MikeSavoca91 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2007, 21:18 Hello all, it's time to spread out my work. Would someone mind looking up some information on the Milillo family? My grandfather's sister Marie Savoca married a man named Ralph Millilo in 1950. His parents were Domenic(k) and Michelle or Maria Milillo. They had 5 kids, and my uncle was born on Jan. 28, 1920. Can anyone help...oh they were from Bari. Thanks Mike.

Biff,
I'm not having success opening this link you posted:

Mike,
If you post about your Irish side here (not sure how Kosher) please put the word Irish in the topic title, that would draw my attention. Otherwise you can PM me about it when the time comes. One never knows.
