well so no far as immigration year.... and most probable your ancestors was really born in Palermo town... for certainity you can ask in Palermo civil records office the birthact certificate:
" MESSINA Concetta nata a Palermo nel Gennaio 1942, figlia di Rosario, emigrata in Argentina nel 1948" sending a email directly to Major( because Palermo is a big town with many hamleth and we don't know in what district she was born) by this email address in this webpage:

http://www.comune.palermo.it/Comune/Giunta/Sindaco.htm

and when you receive the positive or negative reply( I believe positive) and you will know also the Concetta mother name,
you can to write
to Messina people in Palermo abt a probable relationship.. in Palermo it are 200 Messina families:

http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... c=&x=0&y=0
I'm sure that you will have some reply from right relatives.. regards, suanj

I have been searching for my Messina relatives from Palermo for a long, long time. My grandfather was Leonard. His father was Rosario (my own father was named after him). Family lore has it that relatives went to Argentina, while my grandfather and his parents Rosario and Natalia (Milano) came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My grandfather was extremely secretive about their life in Palermo---he led us to believe he had to come to the United States and was, in fact, never happy in the US. We really long to find information out about any relatives we might have still in Palermo or in Argentina. It is interesting that you mention the name Rosario, too! We should get in contact with each other and compare notes!

Metay and Peace.....My last name is Messina as well.

My great grandfather was from Sant' Antonio, Catania, Sicily....his name (my greatgrandfather) was Paolo Messina, born 1888. His mother's name was Antonia Battiata and his father was Rosario Messina.

I believe he had two brothers, Vincenzo and Francesco Messina.....all three, at some point immigrated to New York, via Naples.

In NYC my great grandfather had 10 children, this is Paolo Messina:
• Grace Messina (Born 1911) – Died between 1910-1920
• Rosario Messina (Born 1913)
• Vito Messina (Born 1916)
• Santina Messina (Born 1918)
• Antionetta Messina (Born 1920)
• Josephine Messina (Born 1922)
• Salvatore Messina (Born 1924)
• Paulina Messina (Born 1926)
• Guiseppe (Joseph) Messina (Born 1927) (grandfather)
• Johnny Messina (Born 1931) –

Not sure if there is any connections but wanted to at least post as you just never know.
