Churches in Padula ca 1840-50

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Churches in Padula ca 1840-50

Post by Virginia »

Is there a way to determine the church where a baptism took place?

I'm trying to translate from this site:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... :213399101

What churches would have existed about that time? Would they also have records available, similar to the ones in the Registry that is on line?

If you have an issue about Padula, it is one of the towns with more resources online.
Here:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cc=1920307

you find registers of births.
Each record has a side column stating when/where the child was baptized.
However, in about 1840, I read in side columns "il Parroco di Padula..." ("the Parson of Padula"), so I think there was only one church there recording baptisms.
