This document is not the actual marriage record, but rather the marriage publications (banns of marriage) which were requested to insure there were no obstacles or impediments to the marriage.

It is dated Feb 15, 1891 at 9 a.m. in Squille (which is a frazione or hamlet of the town of Castel Campagnano) in Caserta Province. Appearing was the groom to be, Stefano Marotta, age 31, who was a resident in Squille and a peasant there. He was the son of Pasquale Marotta, age 69, a peasant there, and also the son of Girolama Aldi, same occupation. The bride to be was Cattolica Ciervo, age 28, a peasant, the daughter of Stefano Ciervo, age 68, a peasant who was resident in Squille and deceased Lucia Cesare. The groom had been born in Squille. The bride in S. Agata de'Goti. The groom had been a resident in New York in America for a year. Witnesses were Domenico Massaro, age 39, and Giuseppe Tebano, age 24.
In addition to providing copies of their birth acts, the groom also presented an act from a notary in Caiazzo which was dated on Jan 29, 1891. The document was to the effect that, during his stay in America, he had not contracted marriage with any other woman. In the margin are the dates that the marriage publications were posted in Squille. The first was posted on Sunday Feb 15, 1891, and the second on Sunday Feb 22nd. The second one ended after 3 days, so anytime after the 25th, the actual marriage could take place.
