Birth in Laurenzana - Francesco Antonio Fanelli

Post by dita531 »

This is my great grandfather. I know he was born Francesco Antonio Fanelli on 07 Apr 1875 and his parents were Egido Carmine Fanelli and Maria Madelena Marttocia.

I'm curious if it mentions where his parents were born and what child he was born to his mother (1st, 2nd...)

Many, many thanks!

You have correct date of birth and parents' names. The record just states that they were living in Laurenzana at the time of the birth. It does not state where the parents were born. Also I have never seen an Italian birth record which states which number child it is for a particular set of parents. So, this record does NOT state whether he was their first, second, etc, child. The announcement of this birth was made by the midwife, as the father was absent from the town at the time.

Hi,
I was just looking back at this... does it say at all how old the parents (Egido and Maria) were?

Livio, I read the age of 22 where it says:
(“... da Martoccia Maria Maddalena, filatrice (seamstress), moglie di Egido Carmine Fanelli, occupation?, ventidue ….)

Is ventidue the age of Maria Maddalena or of Egidio Carmine?

:) Well you've got me there. It is very ambiguous the way it is written. I was hoping you would be able to clarify this. Initially I thought it was Maria Maddalena's but I'm not so sure now. What says you?

Well, I guess that one of them must have been aged 22?

dita531, I would recommend that you post he link to the image (in this case https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... ,392378701) rather than a small and unreadable image...

As I stated in my first answer the ages of the parents are not there.

Angela, the sentence reads: (“... da Martoccia Maria Maddalena, filatrice (seamstress), moglie di Egido Carmine Fanelli, occupation?, ambedue domiciliati ….)
