1609 marriage

Post by cj11788 »

Hello,

Can you help me with the locations on this marriage. The marriage took place in Monreale but I'm not sure of the bride and grooms location. I underlined them in the file.

Groom is Francesco Gaitano and the bride is Domenica Muscaro.

On a side note; is it common couples back in the 1600's to have children out of wedlock? They were married in May 1609 but a child was born in October 1609.

Interesting!

Thanks,

Chris

Not sure about this but I think the Camma is for the town of Cammarata which is in Agrigento Province (groom's family) and that Terra di Gulisano refers to the town of Collesano in Palermo Province (for the bride's family).

I agree with Erudita.
There seems to be an abbreviation mark over the word "Camma", and Gulisano is the ancient name for Collesano:

I agree with Marcello, it is clearly Catania. (The abbreviation mark that Pippo mentioned is the lower part of the lower part of the letter "g" of the word "interrogato" on the line above.
