Hello, this is my first time on this forum. A friend of mine asked me to help him to translate this document, where he reached a brick wall on his father side. I was able to pick up a few words, but it is very confusing to read a baptismal document with so many people named Batista.
Would anyone be able to translate it. He went all the way to Italy, visited the church and got a picture of a beaten up book of what the priest believed it was his grandfather.
It is the record with a red annotation at the center of the page. It is from San Olcese, Genoa

A larger image would certainly help...

I know my dear, it saddens me that it is so small This is another problem. If they had a way of scanning this document it would have been much better. Unfortunately this is all we have. I am planning on writing to Italy with this information and hope they would have on the town records, but it might take forever.liviomoreno wrote:A larger image would certainly help...

I'm sorry. It is too blurred for me. I can't read it.
Re: Baptismal church record in Latin from San Olcese, Genoa
I try (the lower one):
"Die Septima Martii 1836 - Ioannes Baptista Torre filius Ioannis Baptistae qd. Benedicti (?) et Annae Mariae Carosino qd. Ioannis Carosino (?)...patrini fuerunt Ioannes Baptista Campi (?) fil. Ioannis Baptistae et Theresiae Carosino (?) vidua Josephi de Parrochia Morassonae (?)"
Let's say there should be a "?" all over the transcription, and two where you see there's one...
"March 7th, 1836 - Giovanni Battista Torre son of Giovanni Battista, son of deceased Benedetto, and of Amma Maria Carosino, daughter of deceased Giovanni...godparents were Giovanni Battista Campi, son of Giovanni Battista, and Teresa Carosino, widow of Giuseppe from the parish of Morassona"
I hope someone can be more accurate...it must be a team work!
