Yes, your translation is correct. The date 7 Jan 1817 is above the record whereas at the bottom there are 2 earlier dates, 29 Dec 1816 and 1 Jan 1817, that I'm guessing were the dates of the marriage banns.

Roughly how many Puma people were alive around 1820 in Racalmuto. How you been able to estimate that yet? How many branches are required to fit everyone?

I have no idea. I do have a Racalmuto Tree of mostly unrelated Puma families on ancestry.com. There are 951 Puma's on it currently and I haven't added the 80 marriages the Genealogist found to it yet.

That's 951 Pumas just in Racalmuto or throughout the province?

Just in Racalmuto. There may be some duplicates as this is not one "everybody is related" Tree, but many unconnected tree branches of Puma found at different times, but I've checked for that, so I do not think that there are too many duplicates that I may have missed. I'm sure that there may be some people who are related that I haven't identified and related them. I tried to record either film numbers or if I had them, civil record numbers, but did not spend the time on this "Research Tree" as I do on my main family tree (over 36,000 people). On that Tree, I put every record I find on it as a photo (almost 7,000 photos, many photo records, but most are still photos of people). I created the Racalmuto Tree to help me add entire Tree branches to my family tree, if and when I find a single person connection to my main Tree.

It's hard to believe that all those Pumas are distinct. Racalmuto only has about 70 Pumas now, the same as Ribera. The population of Racalmuto is only about 8000 now, though it was around 10,000 in the mid-19th c., about twice as big as Ribera was then (though Ribera is over 20,000 now). Yet there were far fewer than 200 Pumas in Ribera in the 19th-c. Or does your tree contain many, many people from before the 19th c., from, say, church records?

I just added Church records from 1588 to 1821 to bring my Racalmuto Tree to 1,038 Puma's, all but about 30 (that were traced down from Racalmuto to America to the 20th Century), are from Racalmuto. I believe there may be some duplicates but not many as I've sifted through them a couple of times in the past to eliminate duplicates. Until the 20th Century, it was not unusual for families to have 6 to 12 children. Many died young.

In case it fits with anyone else's tree: I'm looking for (Calogero) Alfonzo Macluso (1868?) fom Racalmulto, child of Francesco Macaluso and Carmela Lo Giudice. Alfonzo immigrated to Argentina about 1898.
