Order Microfilm for Salento, Salerno

Post by JOHN08 »

I am not sure which microfilm location to order for Pasquale Mizii's birth record.

I found the WWI Draft Registration, dated 7 June 1917, for Pasquale Mizii, born the 24th of May 1890 at Salento, Salerno, Italy. However, this location is not noted in the list of available microfilms from FamilySearch.org.

Pasquale Mizii's father, I believe --- no direct evidence, is Clodomiro, Mizii, born in 1866 in Atri and died on the 11th of Feburary 1956 in the Comune di Sessa Cilento, Provincia di Salerno.

What microfilm location should I order to examine the birth record for Pasquale Mizii ? My guess is the microfilm for Sassano, Salerno.

Wishing all a Happy New Year.

Marty,

Thank you for your help. This is the information that i needed.

So far, I have found two relatives using the records from Salento:
1. Adelina Giuditta Filomena Mizi (as spelled), birth 6 Apr 1892.
2. Ida Pasquala Fiore Mizii (as spelled), birth 6 Jun 1897.

Also, thanks for researching the birth records for Pasquale, Alberto Angelo, and Luigi Mizi.

Regards,

John

John, yes I do remember a Mizii in Sessa Cilento. I do not know is name because everybody called him Guardiano, which relates to his job of guarding the properties, I believe, of one of the wealthy families in Sessa. I am pretty sure that his wife's name was Maria. To the best of my recollection they had one daughter, Ida, who married in Sessa Luigi De Feo and they had three daughters, Maria, Cesarina and Marcella. I went to school with Marcella. I am pretty sure that Maria passed away, but I don't know about the other two because, like me, they moved away from Sessa and I don't know where they went.

Re: Mizii Family

Post by kerryab »

Hello Neil-

I hope this finds you after so much time. My husband, Clemente Crocamo, is the great grandson of Clodomiro Mizii. I feel confident this is the same family as I have an as yet untranslated letter from Clodomiro to his daughter Marcellina, dated 7 September 1952. The names Cesarino, Adelina and Angelo are all mentioned in the letter, so I suspect we're talking about the same family. (And then there's the fact that my husband's dad was an Angelo who had a sister Adeline. His father, Clemente Crocamo, born in Salento in 1887, emigrated to New York, in 1907 (?) from Naples and landed in Derby, Connecticut. I know families recycle names often, so for me, that strikes me as more evidence that we're speaking of the same family).

Thank you in advance if you're able to offer any further information.

Kind regards,
Kerry
