It's strange!
It's the same ship and date as in Ellis Island.
Unless Maria is mentioned in another manifest (for instance, as a detained alien) this must be the source. And there's no column for the province of last residence. It might be an indexation error.
I think that provinces were automatically loaded after indexation.
In Castle Garden, if you choose Oregon as the ship and 1896 as the year, you will get all the people who were on the ship. Then, you can order the list by place of residence clicking on the heading of the column. Then, you can check that all people coming from Santa Margherita have Trento as their province of residence. But, if you select the record for the only one person coming from "Santi Cosma and Damiano", whose name is Biagio Ragonesi, you will see that he has Latina as his province of residence. Well, in 1896, Latina did not even exist, as it was founded in the 1920's as Littoria, and took on its actual name after the fall of Fascism!
This makes me think that some program was used to load provinces of residence, where not explicitly mentioned in manifests.
Santa Margherita was the name of a Commune in the province of Trento, that doesn' exist anymore as such.

For reference purposes... here is the manifest image.

As Pippo :-) stated... there is no column for Province.

Peter's explanation in your other post explains about S. Margherita near Messina :-)

Here is the manifest for Maria D'Astro
Lines 5 and 6 - she is traveling with her husband Giacomo Maisano
