Thank you both for your help. Yes, I totally agree, there is alot of research to be done. During the last year or so I have poured over Old Calabrian historical book websites and am very interested in the Campolongo Barons that hailed from Normandy. This is the first time I have had any collaboratio...

Has anyone heard of the name Tortora Brayda? My father's cousin in Naples told me in a letter that my great-great grandparent was "marchese di Tortora Brayda dei Duchi di San Donato". Can anyone help me learn what exactly this is? :? He wrote back and told me that "Tortora Brayda was ...

Change of birthdate coming through Ellis Island?

Hi all, I just received my Grandfather's naturalization records from NYC. It tells me that he came over in Nov. of 1905 and arrived in Dec. of 1905, coming over on the Steamship Slavonia. I have looked and looked for his ship record, finding alot of Giovanni Campolongo's but none with his proper age...

How do I find an address in the 1930 census

I am looking for 1675 Madison St. Brooklyn NY in the 1930 census. I have tried to look up the enumeration district but with no success. I am looking up the last name Russo who lived there is 1929 from what I can tell from a ship passenger record. :?

Giuseppe Campolongo - Brooklyn, NY

I am trying to find a census with my uncle Giuseppe Campolongo (Joseph) who was born in Naples Italy in 1880. I've searched and searched but I can't find him in any census in Brooklyn, NY. I found a WWI draft that shows he lived in Brooklyn at that time and also at the time of the WWII draft. My fat...

Writing to potential relatives in Italy

I found a bunch of addresses for Guarini, Campolongo and Monaco on PagineBianchi website. Would it be too forward to write to some of these people to see if they are related to any of my family who immigrated to the US? I don't want to put anyone out but I am stuck in my genealogy endeavors. I'm get...

Re: Italian Military

Hi Nuccia,
I found the addresses I needed for Avellino and some sample letters in Italian to request documents. I think it will be better to use than a Free Translation Website like I sent you.
Thanks anyway,
Rita
