Re: Great Grandmother
I find it surprising that there are records on Ancestry from before 1865, but not the period 1866-1900.

Are there any microfilm records for Conca della Campania after 1865?

Re: Cemetery Records
Thank you. That is disappointing. It would have been amazing to find gravesites.

Re: Massanelli Ancestors
I am looking at a ship manifest and one of my potential ancestors from the Missanelli family is listed as having arrived from the country Campobasso in the town of Agusa (???). I looked on a map and can't find Agusa or anything close to that spelling.

Re: Cemetery Records
Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate anyone in my family. Is there a more direct way to go about this? Would contacting the individual towns help me in any way?

Re: Massanelli Ancestors
Jennifer, I have not checked this site in quite a long time, but I received a notification of your comment. Were you aware that your surname is Missanelli with an "i" instead of an "a"? Anyway, I am sorry to say that the Rosa you listed is not my 2nd Great Grandmother. My Rosa wa...

Re: John Marco
That last listing from Newsday seems to be the most likely date of death for him. Regardless, I don't believe he is related to me, which is quite frustrating. If he lived in an orphanage, that would explain why his name is Marco, despite having parents from Ireland. The only thing I can think of is ...

Re: John Marco
Interestingly, when I checked military records on the Fold3 database, there was no John Marco that died in Sept 1916. There is another John Marco that was killed in action a couple months prior.

Re: John Marco
Based on that information, I would say that is not one of my relatives. All of my Marco relatives came to America from Anzi, Italy and wound up on Staten Island. Many of them are still there.

John Marco
I recently came across a newspaper article from 1916 which indicated that a John Marco of Staten Island died from wounds suffered during the war. I immediately checked my family tree and found nobody by this name that died in 1916. There are other John Marcos in my tree, but they died long before or...

Re: Maria Rosa Missanelli's real identity
Marty, I know you disagree with my Esposito name theory, but could it be possible that she just used that name when traveling? Perhaps she didn't want the father(s) to know she was leaving? By the way, there are two Esposito family members living at her address in the 1905 census. That was one of th...

Antonette died in 1920 and Aniello moved to Sea Girt, NJ. He eventually remarried.

Re: Maria Rosa Missanelli's real identity
That's correct. She is the only one of the 3 daughters to marry before coming to the U.S.
