Re: Positivo/Negativo definition?
You're not wrong, weixiehong. That's exactly what it is. If there are no discrepancies, there is no need for such a letter. Sometimes it will be accepted in lieu of an amendment but no guarantees. I was fortunate in that all of my gf's documents lined up, but sometimes there are date or minor name ...

Re: Positivo/Negativo definition?
Haha. Thanks jennabet. At the very least I can educate people with my own ignorance :) From what I seem to gather, it's used primarily to get around birth date discrepancies. So for instance (and like my case), an Italian birth cert. has one date, but all US docs have another. So rather than go thro...

Positivo/Negativo definition?
Hi all, I know this must have been asked, but what is the so-called "positivo/negativo" that I've seen mentioned before? Is it just basically a letter from the comune used for consulate appointments to deal with date discrepancies? Are there fixed information details on this or does it var...

Any other Naturalization docs needed?
Hi all, I apologize in advance if this has been asked many times before... I have received my great-grandfather's Petition for Naturalization and the cover letter that goes along with it from the county where he was naturalized. Do I need any further documents regarding his naturalization for my eve...

Re: Going for Dual Citizenship; Need help with a few Questio
If you are applying at the Italian embassy in the US (in Washington, DC), then your US naturalization docs do not need translation or apostille. If you are applying at an Italian embassy outside the US, the US naturalization docs will need to be translated into Italian and will need an apostille fr...

Re: Birth date off by quite a bit
Wow! Italysearcher, that might be it. The full name was Vincenzo Domenico Antonio Cherubino and his birth cert. says 29 July 1886. The US docs. say 5 July. I see on the name day calendar link 5 July is for "S. Antonio Maria Zaccaria sacerdote" Would that make sense? And would it account fo...

Re: Vitalchek
Thanks. To update, I used them with no problem. NY state is a different issue though due to the state laws against giving birth/divorce/death records to people other than the exact people named on the documents. Fortunately all my relatives are still alive

Dual Citizenship Companies
Hi all, I've posted a bit lately and really appreciate the help and guidance you all have given. Now, I know I can gather documents and go through the dual citizenship application process myself, and I've done a lot already, but would prefer to go through a service for the actual lead up to the inte...

Birth date off by quite a bit
Hi all, I have recently found my great-grandfather's birth certificate from Siderno, RC. I know it's him because all the details match (father, mother, place, etc...). But the date of birth listed on the Italian cert. and ALL his US documents is off by quite a bit. I've heard of people here on this ...
