Help with Translation

Post by skiptonr@hotmail.com »

Dear all, I've attempted to translate this via Google Translate but a few of the words I just can't decipher. The last bit especially...I get most of the words but when it translates it doesn't make sense. Any help would be appreciated!!

One more thing...the word, "contadino" translates to "farmer" but in context with the paragraph, Google translates to "peasant". Thoughts on this?

Thanks, Rick

Below is the google translation with the missing words in bold...

As I understand, for my knowledge of English, you mean "farmer" is the owner of a farm, and "peasant" is someone who works the land. In Italian, "contadino" doesn't explain this kind of condition. However, though, at that time, it is more likely that he didn't owe the land he worked on, we can't be sure by just that word.
