Re: Francesco Inguaggiato born 1890

Hello everyone!

I am revisiting this issue of an ancestor and his wife. I had found them on the Ellis Island site on a ship manifest (as told in my first post) from 1913.
Their names are crossed out on the manifest, and I was told ( in the previous post), that this means they did not board the ship ...

Re: Data Privacy Laws

Thank you, John. So that means, records up to 1934 can be viewed at the Archivio di Stato.

For Petralia Sottana, is that archive located in Palermo, Sicily?

Are the records on microfilm for easy access viewing or would I have to go there and order a document one at a time and wait?

Thank you.

Sicilian peasants took surname of nobility?

Looking through the Family History Library films I find both nobility and peasants with my Sicilian surname. There is also a coat of arms from the early 1600s and the name is listed in the Libro d'Oro. As far back as I have gotten (late 1700s), my particular ancestors in Sicily were peasants. Would ...

Data Privacy Laws

Are there now privacy laws in Italy that would prevent me from obtaining civil records more recent than the 1910 FHL films? If there are, does that just leave the church records that are still available?

Thank you.

Re: Church Records in Palermo/Petralia Sottana

Marcello -

On my next visit to Petralia Sottana I would like to view the church archives at the Duomo. Would you kindly advise me:
1 - do you write the priest and set an appointment?
2 - I know the priest is very busy - does he help locate the books and help you look through them?
3 - how much time ...
