Re: Marriage Customs and Child Legitimacy

I am not sure they are the same person. I have thought that they were because Salvadore's birth record is part of the allegati for both marriages however, I do have doubts. Below are links to documents covering the first marriage to Maria Teresa Cosentino. Interestingly, the allegati includes a note ...

Re: Marriage Customs and Child Legitimacy

Here are a couple links to the registration of the second marriage to Vincenza Catanzaro. I did not see the term "vedovo" or any reference to the first marriage. Can you?

PippoM,

Re: Translate Birth Records

mmogno,

Thanks very much for the additional information and the links to the reports. It confirms what I thought. Salvador must have stayed with his wet nurse because she and her husband, Giuseppe are identified later in the Allegati records of his marriage in 1859.

Re: Translate Birth Records

PippoM,

Thank you so much for that information! You have confirmed what I have suspected and what I've read about how unwed mothers, at the time, may have given their babies up in hopes that they would be taken in. In the U.S. the location is often a Fire Station. I have a couple other questions ...

Translate Birth Records

I am looking for help with the translation of these records. They are in script and not easy to read. Thank you in advance. - Joe Comello
