Roccamena Giordano Accurso

I am looking for ancestors who lived in Roccamena. I know that they lived on via di Salvo. Natale Giordano traveled back and forth to the US to make money for his family. He eventually brought them over as well. Most of them immigrated in 1923 - his wife, Maria Accurso and their children. There were several crossings. They settled first in Texas and then in New York. I don't know where to look for information in Roccamena, Palermo, Sicily, Italy for records. I have most of the available US records. Thank you for any help that you can give

There are some microfilmed records for the town of Rocamena, if you care to go that route.

The rolls of microfilm need to be rented from a family history at a Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. The microfilms, once ordered and paid for, are sent to the local center from the main Mormon library in Salt Lake City. The cost is about $5.50 per roll of film, for about a month, but the price varies from center to center. To find a center near your home, search on the website www.familysearch.org

Go to the category library across the top and then to the drop down box where you put in your city and zip code and find the center closest to your home.

This is the website for the town. Another option would be to send to the town for records. Using the U.S. records in your possession, you can estimate years of birth and marriage and send to the town's anagrafe office for info.

The anagrafe or registry office is the office which houses the vital records. So you could try emailing for dates or to get record copies. Normally, however, to get record copies, it is suggested that you send a self-addressed, but not stamped envelope to the office via regular mail.

Anny correspondence though needs to be in Italian.
