Faima family Italian Tailors

Although I am reasonably experienced with British Genealogy, I am new to this forum and searching Italian records

I am interested in the ancestors and place of origin in Italy of ANTONIO FAIMA. He features in the 1871 London census with his wife and daughter. This gives a calculated date of birth of 1842 inItaly. He is not listed or any name variant I can find in 1861.

I am aware that many came fron Italy to London between 1860 and 1870 and guess he was one of them He was a tailor on the census and on his marriage cert.

I have his marriage certificate. He was married in the Italian Church of St Peters in london on 29th August 1869. His father is given as JUAN FAIMA

Juan is a tailor. One of the witnesses made a mark his name beingPIETRO GAVANIE notsure I have read this correctly

Can anyone help trace this family back to Italy or give me any pointers plese

Hi, Faima surname not exist in Italy, almost not currently...
strange one thing: in the past I helped, without success, a UK friend abt ancestor's search: Dominic Berreley , italian..
now I see by ancestry.com that the widow of Antonio Faima married at Dominic Berreley..

in my previous search, Berreley surname was the anglicized version of of Borrelli, Borriello or other similar surnames..
I believe that Faima really was the italian Farina surname...

I did not complicate my first email too much but you are right ,After Antonio's death his widow married another Italian Dominic Berreley. I am in contact with a descendant of his, perhaps she had made contact with you.The name Berreley was further anglicised to Berrelly.

I was interested to note that it is not a current italian name

Dochines - Suanj is correct, your ancestors name was Antonia Farina, I remember seeing this in some records at The National Archives in Kew when I was reseaching my ancestry. I will have a look through my paperwork and see if I still have a copy.

My husband is descended from Antonio Faima or Farina and his tailor father ‘Juan Faima’. Can anyone tell me anymore about this family in Italy? I know what happened in England.
