I do not think that Barvegna is an Italian surname at all.

I suspect it is just sloppy cursive handwriting.

Benvegna, Benvenga, Bonvegna, and Bonvenga are all Sicilian/Italian surnames that date back at least to the 19th century, as well as, Bevacqua which when written sloppy in cursive ...
