Scoppi family

[Sangay]

I am searching for the origins of Stefano Scoppi, born approximately 1853, and who emigrated from Italy to the UK, probably in the 1870s. This is my husband's family and we are trying to locate his birthplace/home town in Italy.

Thanks for all your postings, some of which I was aware of, but particularly interesting is the spelling in 1881 of Scoppia rather than just Scoppi. I also contacted the present Scoppis in the Italian phone book and have had a reply which I will follow up. We go to Italy next week so maybe I'll have more success there! Again, many thanks for your help.
