Police records

Post by lentini »

Hi all, I just discovered that an great uncle left Italy as he seems to have killed someone in the early 1900s. I wanted to know if there is anywhere we can see old police archived records that perhaps would tell me more what happened or more information. He lived in Calabria.

Thanks in advance

Try the Archivio di Stato 'patrimonio'

Hi thanks for the help. Do you have a web address as I found several sites with similar name. The record I am looking for is from the early 1900s.

You didn't say which town and there are several Archivio di Stato in Calabria.
Once you decide which one then go to PATRIMONIO and in that area should be listed something like Corte di Assise.
You don't get to search the documents. You have to write and ask them to search (if they have that service) if they have the years you are interested in.

The town is Badia di Nicotera and is a fracione of Nicotera. Badia fa parte del comune di Nicotera, in provincia di Vibo Valentia, nella regione Calabria.

If you can send me an email link to PATRIMONIO please as when I search in google a lot of things come up as PATRIMONIO.

Thank you for your help.

This is not something you search for in Google. You have to go to the State Archives of Vibo Valentia. You only nominate the 'frazione' Badia when nothing else works. Otherwise always use the Comune. Below is the link to the Stae Archives and below that is a copy of what penal records they have.
