Yes, there is a connection!! I have Guiseppina (Josie) Palumbo as being born in September of 1893 but it could be 1892 - I have only the census record and those always have approximations or errors.

I have a total of 12 siblings but some died, so 10 could easily have been correct at some point. I don't know who she married but she was born in Ohio and her whole family moved to Toronto (rumours about mob threats). They worked in the fruit business in Chicago and Toronto and perhaps even in Italy.

Her parents were Antonino Gentile and Maria Speciale. I have that they moved to Canada sometime in 1918 but it may be off. They had another child in Chicago in November of 1916, though, so they were living in Chicago then. It's certainly possible that different family members moved at different times. My great grandfather was actually the last to move, since he stayed behind to marry my great grandmother (his parents weren't pleased about that).

Ignazio Naso was the husband of Augustine (Tinie) Palumbo. The Naso family was friends with the Palumbo family and lived in the same apartment building at some point.

I'd love to compare notes if you want to contact me at m a t t t k @ g m a i l . c o m (obviously without the spaces). If you use Geni, you can easily see the stuff I've worked on so far.

If I've calculated correctly, you are my third cousin once removed. :) For reference, Josie is my great great aunt.

Thanks alot Laura!
You are right about Santo and Josie already living in Canada by 1916...
I found out they had a baby in Chicago (Cosimo Franze) but the baby died young, and they came to Canada and had my great grandfather in 1914 (In Canada) and they named that baby Cosimo also..
I havent had any luck with finding records of when they orginially left Chicago for Toronto.

Anyway, Thanks again!

Rebeca,
if you check this site:
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/rec ... tml#p=home

You'll find many records (italians records from Termini Imerese) for the Franzè (I believe this is the correct lastname) especially for the family of Santo Franzè and Ignazia Scaletto (possible Santo Franze's grandparents :?: )

I'm glad you have been able to establish a relationship between your ancestors and the Palumbo of this research!
My great great grandmother was Guiseppa (Josephine/Josie) Palumbo.
Josephine/ Giuseppa is listed in the 1910 federal census living with her parents:

the last trace in Chicago is the burial date for their first son Cosimo, 17 january 1913, being your great-grandfather born on 1914 they may have moved from Chicago just between January 1913 and your great-grandfather's birth date....
