I understand there are/were three NOT closely related Torcaso families in/about Platania, Calabria. I have been told these were grouped in the Cugnio, Hoffo and Peppazo clans. I think the clan I am interested in is the Peppazo clan. I am not sure if that is one word or two. "My" Torcaso family was married with the Grandinetti family and more narrowly part of the family lives in Pennsylvania, USA. The earliest people I have are Michael Angelo and Maria Torcaso. One of their children Angelo was born in 1886 in Platania and died in 1976 in Pennsylvania. This Angelo married Rose Grandinetti (1894-1982) who was the daughter of Francesco Grandinetti. I have photos of this couple.

Family surnames are based upon the Husband and the family may be part of an extended family of parents,brothers,sisters, Aunts and Uncles, nieces and nephews if this is what you mean by your reference to "clan".
May I suggest you read the brief website on how to do your own Italian Genealogy Research so that you will be familiar with the subject so that when asking questions you can be as specific as you wish and enjoy more of your family genealogy.

Thank you for the reference - which I have read.
I do understand that surnames do follow the Husband but it has been told to me by a man living in Italy that there may be some cases such as the marriage/offspring of 2nd, 3rd, etc., sons of minor Italian nobility ( such as Barons ) that may result in children assuming the Wife's surname.
Again I am interested in persons with knowledge of the Torcaso and Grandinetti families in the Platania region of Calabria.
