Placid was born 1898 not 1989.
Re: Looking for information about my family - Todaro
Hello Joy, welcome to the forum!
Do you have your family's US records? (census, military, vital records, immigration, naturalization, etc)
If you're missing any US records we would be happy to help you look.
If you're only interested in records from Palermo, you'll need to know if they were born in the comune of Palermo or somewhere in the province of Palermo.
If you know the comune we can help to direct you where to look next in Italian records.
Thank you, Valarie

Re: Looking for information about my family - Todaro
Hi Valerie,
Thank you for the warm welcome and such helpful information!
Unfortunately, my family does not appear to have any of my family's US records. Additionally, the information related to where in Palermo they were born was not passed down through the generations. Therefore, I am starting from scratch. I would love help finding these documents and information to learn more about my family and to determine if I meet the requirements for dual citizenship.
It appears that these may be the correct manifests. I have questions into my Pace cousin to determine if this was correct related to Francesco coming over and meeting up with Domenico. I also have questions into my Todaro cousin who is Salvatore's granddaughter to determine the correctness of his dates of birth and death. I also did not know about my great aunt Angela. Therefore, I am trying to confirm this with my cousins.
Thank you again for your help! It is greatly appreciated!
Joy

Naturalization
For dual citizenship you'll need naturalization information for both your grandfather and your great grandfather. Clues can be found on their census records as to whether or not they became US citizens.
Naturalization Information can also be searched at the Steve Morse and the Italian Genealogical Group (IGG) sites for free
simplified search of IGG:

FamilySearch also has some NYC naturalization records

Re: Looking for information about my family - Todaro
This is amazing information, Valerie. You are such a tremendous help.
My Pace cousin was unable to provide any information regarding Domenico and Francesco. Therefore, I have contacted another Pace cousin to see if they can help.
I understand that the census is only as good as the individual providing the information and the individual recording that information. Yet, if it turns out that my great grandfather and grandfather became naturalized citizens before my grandfather had any children, does that hurt my eligibility for dual citizenship? If it does, then does it help that my great grandmother may not have become a naturalized citizen?

Hey Joy!
I'm glad we could find some records for you.
I'm not an expert on dual citizenship.
Perhaps you could start another post with your question?
It may get lost in this post
Posting in this section of the forum might help:
"Emigration, Immigration, Naturalization and Italian citizenship"
http://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/emigration.html
Also, since you would be applying at the Consulate where you live, you may want to see if they have a website with information.

Re: Looking for information about my family - Todaro
Hi Valarie,
I found out the most interesting information from my Pace cousin.
There was an eldest daughter Rosanna Todaro of Francesco and Maria who was married to Domenico Pace. Domenico and Rosanna are her grandparents. Therefore, this is my correct family information! And this is information that both my cousin and I were not aware of. Thank you so much!

Re: Looking for information about my family - Todaro
Joy - are you still accessing this thread? Rosaria Todaro (maiden name) of Ficarazzi may be a common linespecially since she married a Pace. Check with your cousins. She lived in the Bronx and had three children: Boy, girl, boy.
