It's interesting that records go that far back. My grandparents left Buccheri in the early 1900's, I have no information on their parents or marriage , birth certificates.

Grandfather: Salvatore Buscema. Date of Birth: 27 December, 1873
(mother Grazia Incagne?? father Salvatore Buscema?? not sure about this info).


Grandmother: Maria Maddalena De Pasquale. Date of Birth: 22 December, 1880
(mother Orazia Martifanon?? father Salvatore Di Pasquale??, not sure about this info).


All this information is to the best of my knowledge.

I know that they returned several time and stayed in Buccheri with my grandmother's nephew Vito Di Pasquale, the last time was in 1930s.

Here is the birth record for Sebastiano Buscema, born in Buccheri at 5:15 on 30 August 1901 to Maddalena Dipasquale, wife of Salvatore Buscema, peasant farmer, both residents of the comune of Buccheri. The midwife, Concetta Cappasella, age 71, made the presentation of the child at the town hall on 2 September because the wife of Dipasquale was away.
Unfortunately, the name of Salvatore's and Maddalena's parents are not listed. Neither is their age.

Taking a look at the 1910 US Census for Salvatore and Mary Buscema in Lawrence, MA...
It indicates that Salvatore immigrated about 1908 and Mary and son, Vito, in 1909.
They have been married for 12 years. This would make the marriage about 1898
It also indicates that Mary has had 5 children, but only 1 is living. Sooo, it appears that Sebastiano, Salvatore, whose birth records are in my earlier post, and Grazia (as you stated above) were deceased; and there was another child as well. I am thinking that Maria brought only one child from Italy, Vito...

Based on this index of 1920 US Census... Salvatore and Maria had additional children, to whom were given the names of Sebastiano, and Salvatore. A common practice...
You will notice that the surname is very misspelled in this index.

Thank you very much for all this greart information. My father, James always talked about his siblings that died in Buccheri but my grandparents would not talk about the causes. I will contact the Comune of Buccheri City Hall for marriage information.
