Ciao!,
In my Sicilian family tree the name Moreno appears several times. Moreno is not even an Italian name and the name comes from Spain. Could it be very well true that the Moreno family in Sicily and most of Italy all came from Spain and fled in the Inquisition?
Thank you
Moreno Sephardic?

Re: Moreno Sephardic?
It's possible yes, and I believe many Italians came from Spain. Research the three Spanish knights, Osso, Mastrosso and Carcagnosso. Also, there is a province near Liguria and San Remo called Moreno. I'm thinking the name may have come from Spain and once they got to Italy, changed it to Marino. Just my guess. But yeah, that's why I'M on here, because I'm trying to find out where my Grandfather Dominick Moreno came from and who his mother Elisabetta Ieradi was and where she came from and her history. Lot's of different theories, many Moreno's came from Italy, then New York and then to Chicago where some Moreno's went and became involved with the mafia and then may also have switched between spellings of Moreno and Marino to confuse the authorities.
