Hello,
I just found the record of my 2nd great grandfather, Giovanni Battista Pastore in 1800 Latin records. Could you help with additions/corrections?
I believe he was born in ?8 Jan. of 1800. It reads: Giovanni Battista Pastore, the natural and legitimate son of Hyacinti (Giacinto), (son of Giovanni), and Cattarina Zucchino. Are any of these deceased? I also see the names Gaspare? Laurentio Zucchino? and joanne? battis? Zucchino. These are probably the godparents?

I appreciate your help so much with the translation. I am so excited that these are all my relatives. WOW!! Wish I knew them.

Good effort on your part. You have the correct date-baptized on Jan 8, 1800 (in eadem ecclesia-in this church). Giacinto the son of deceased Giovanni (quondam before his name for "deceased) and Caterina (ex-from- or daughter of Giovann Battista Zucchino, then it says "jugulum Pastore (this means married couple or spouses with the surname Pastore). Born on the same day "eadem die natus." Godparents were Gaspare, the son of Lorenzo Zuchino (see the word "ex" after the name Gaspare which means "from") and Placidia, (daughter) of Giovanni Battista Zuchino.

Dear Erudita (Erudita74),
Thank you so much again for the translation work. I am learning so much from you and I especially enjoy learning the Latin so in the future I can translate better too. I wondered about the word jugulum, ex and quondam; I looked them up but could not get an answer. I think I was misspelling them too. Thank you for your encouraging words.
With gratitude,

Just so you know, I'm American and not a native Italian and, up until a few years, my knowledge of Latin was limited to two years of high school Latin that I studied many many years ago. I have learned a lot on this forum from volunteers like Pippo, mmogno, and Livio, who are well versed in this language, and have been working very hard at getting better at deciphering these records accurately. So helping you is actually helping me improve my skill and, for this, I thank you too.
