Searching for birth records of my G. Grandfather Angelo Togno

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here. Trying to research my G. Grandfather, and I'm having a lot of trouble with it. I'm hoping someone here can help me.

My G. Grandfather was Angelo Togno. As best I can tell he was born in Traona, Italy in either March 1898, or August 1889.
Died January 1978, in Netcong, NJ. His mother's first name might have been Edvige.
I also have a record showing he might have been born in Naples Italy.
He was married to an Anastasia Elizabeth Togno (Maiden name unknown)

His birth years/location have been really tough for me to figure out.

Ultimately, I want to get a certified copy of his birth certificate from Italy, and Anastasia's, and I would really like to figure out how to do that too. I used to think I was really good at Google up until about an hour ago.

I have an Ancestry.com account, but I haven't been able to get any answers through there.

I found a birth record for an Angelo Benedetto Togno, born on July 31, 1890, in Traona, Sondrio, Lombardia. It is Birth Record #14. He is the son of Antonio Togno and of Edvige Amoretti. I found it on the FamilySearch.org web site:

There is a margin note on the above birth act that states he married with Giuseppina Barolo on 16 August 1920, in Traona.

Message to ESmitty...Since you are new at this I wanted to send you another message. It looks as though you have gathered information from a few different sources which does not add up to the same person. You must be very careful not to align yourself with the wrong family. Since there are several Angelo Togno's, be careful! It is best to always work backwards and not jump to conclusions. If you are looking at other people's research, check it out yourself to be sure.

I am looking for birth and marriage records for my grandmother, Angeliolina Indolfi, from Somma Vesuviana, born 1868 , she married Abele Matrisciano from San Vitaliano, born 1860.

These records will help me to go back in history as to my great grandparents on both sides.

Message to ESmitty...Here is a change to what I originally mentioned above. There apparently were two Angelo Togno buried in Stanhhope Union Cemetery, Morris County, NJ. The headstone in one burial site shows Angelo Togno (1890 - 1966) shown with his wife Anastasia (1894 - 1974). If you are sure his wife was Anastasia, then this is the one you are looking for. In the 1940 US Census, it shows a family in Netcong, NJ With Angelo Togno, age 49, his wife Anastasia, age 46 and also lists several children: Concetta age 22, Thomas age 20, Rose age 18, Teresa age 16, Viola age 15, Marie age 12, Angeline age 8, Carolyn age 2. From another source that I checked out, I am inclined to believe that Angelo Togno actually was born in a town called Cesa, in Caserta. His parents are listed as Tommasso Togna and Concetta Verde. This matches up with the Italian naming tradition of naming the first boy and girl after the husband's parents (Concetta and Thomas). Angelo and his father were shown on a ship's manifest arriving at the Port of NY on 27 March 1907, showing that they were going to Netcong, NJ. The 1915 NJ Census shows the family with a misspelled surname as Toney - Thomas, Congetta, Angelo, Teresa and Frank all born in Italy.
