Re: Bisceglie Marriage Allegati Package
Hi - you asked if you might be related to pasta-maker Giovanni Rana. Unfortunately, the evidence is against that possibility. Here's the current distribution of people in Italy with the surname Rana:
http://www.gens.info/italia/it/turismo- ... RvcAi1h1qs
Compared to other surnames, it's fairly rare, occurring in only 171 comuni. You can see there's a concentration on the Adriatic around Bisceglie where your Carlo Rana lived in 1881. The website for pasta-maker Giovanni Rana notes that his operation began in San Giovanni Lupatoto, which is about 60 miles west of Venice. That's almost the entire length of the peninsula northwest of Bisceglie. It's not impossible that one of your (or Giovanno's) Rana ancestors migrated across the length of Italy at some point in the past 100+ years. Of course, if one of his family was interested in their ancestry and had built a family tree, and taken a DNA test, that would be helpful in determining a possible relationship...

Re: Bisceglie Marriage Allegati Package
Hi, my name is Deorah L Holt and i am new to this site, which was recommended by my newly found cousin, Anne, who has been on this forum seekung help with documents, translations, etc.
I would like to continue where she left off with regards to the Carlo Rana and Popa Ippolita Amourso family. She had gotten a tremendous amount of help and information also about their son Giovanni Rana, his birth and marriage, i am lookung for information about his youngest sister, Angelina Maria Rana, who also was born to Carlo and Popa Ippolita Amoruso. I am lookung for a birth certificate. In her funeral book it says she was born 2 July 1900, but i have also heard, word of mouth, that she was really born in 1898. Could you find the actual document? Also are there any Baptismal records for Angelina, Giovanni, and other siblings.
I have another question: i was told she entered a local convent, perhaps for 2-3 years when she was perhaps in her lats teens to about 20. Thank you very much!! Deb
