Looking for a Birth Record 1888 for Ferentino, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy

Post by Suz »

Hi All

I am looking to confirm the parents of Nicola Matteucci
Born 21 Jan 1888 in Ferentino, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy
However different USA records have his birthdate also as the 21 Feb 1888

Nicola immigrated to the USA arriving May 11 1906, at 18, with no famiy and the ship's record gives nothing up other than confirming his age, and last residence as being Ferentino!
Nicola was going to a cousin in Philidelphia but of course the cousin's name is too hard to make out.
Trees at Ancestry have his parents as Alessandro Matteucci and Jenny Baptiste but no one has real proof :?:
I'd like to work backwards but need to know who Nicola Matteucci's parents were.

Thank you
SUZ

Hello!
Unfortunately, the regsiter of births for year 1888 is not present at

https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... =Ferentino

You might want to write to the Town Offices of Ferentino, to request a "copia integrale" (hardcopy) of his birth record

statocivile@comune.ferentino.fr.it
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi

Certificate requests and genealogical researches in Italy.
Translation of your (old) documents and letters.
Legal assistance in Italy for your Italian citizenship.

Thank you Pippo
Are there other options open to me to place Nicolas Matteucci in a family in Ferentino during the 1890's like a household census etc?
As I am not at all familiar with the records available to me from Italy :?
As I said, there are a few trees at Ancestry that give his parentage but of course how accurate they are is the question :?:

On the ship manifest... the cousin is Sisto Segneri in Philadelphia.
Segneri is a surname found in Ferentino.

Thank you Tessa
I looked at it and actually had the first name correct but could not piece the last name so thank you
I will see what I can find on him as perhaps that will lead me to confirmation of Nicola’s family

Wow
Thank you suanj :D

So, it seems those trees were wrong at Ancestry!
I never believe them without some document of proof.
I tried to open the link to the Italian Military Draft Record you sent but I could not?

But from what you indicated his father was Sebastiano Matteucci and mother was Battista Propoggia is that correct?

Got it
Thank you again suanj
I appreciate the hand up.
I have contacted the Town office in Ferentino via an email
We will see if I hear back :?:
But regardless, what you found is more proof than all those Trees at Ancestry.
Silly, silly people are sheep....they simply take someone's Tree at face value :?
And clearly, THEY ALL HAVE IT WRONG!
I'd like to follow Sebastiano and Battista but will see if the Town Office can help.

thank you again

The online family trees without documents that certify their veracity are all inventions, fables, or complete nonsense. And I must say that they are the largest number. Writing a name and that name is wrong, it MAKES NO SENSE.
Only if supported by documents then, you always check because sometimes they even make mistakes when reading Italian, and then you can trust that it is right.
about Ferentino, I hope you have attached your identity document and wrote the email in good Italian.
Good Luck!
