Old Sicilian profession

Can anyone tell me what a Polveraio does? I've seen this written as an occupation on several marriage and death records, but I have not found a good translation of what someone who is a polveraio does. Thank you!

I believe it is the one who pulverizes grain in a granary.

Polveraio= who was responsible for the use and dosage of the gunpowder needed in a furnace.
