Medieval villages in Italy

Post by patsyboone »

I'm planning a trip to Italy this fall and am hoping to find a really picturesque medieval village to spend a few days. Something not overly touristy (though I understand those often will be, so i get it if it is), but beautiful. As an example, I was in France last year and went to Eze Village and loved it, so thinking something along those lines if you're familiar with it. No modern buildings, lots of winding cobblestone streets, etc. Ideally in central Italy, but open to anywhere in Italy.

If you go to the province of Viterbo, you'll find a lot of them (if you stay "inside the walls").
Some instances: Viterbo itself, Civita di Bagnoregio, Barbarano Romano...
