Hi all - this is my first post...I've just started this genealogical journey and I'm very much a "newbie."
My great-grandparents on my mom's side of the family were all born in Italy. My grandfather's side were from Milano and my grandmother's side was from Gagliano, Catanzaro, Calabria.
Despite the "1912 law" I've seen cases where Italian citizenship has been granted, based on the dates of naturalization and the date of birth of the child. My GGF was born in Gagliano in 1883. He came to the US in 1904 and was naturalized in 1911. His daughter (my grandma and my mom's mom) was born in 1910, before he was naturalized. I've read that if your great-grandfather's child (my grandma) was born before his naturalization (she was), then it's possible to retain a valid claim to Italian citizenship, as the citizenship would already have been passed on that child before he lost it. Relatedly, my mom was born in 1941.
Has anyone had luck obtaining Italian citizenship following a similar path?
THANKS!
