Rimini historical archives - Serafino DeLuca

Post by mjclayton1 »

Hello, Forum-

I'm trying to find the Birth Record for Serafino DeLuca. Per a family member whom I'm helping (not my family), he was born June 10 1856, in San Marino. However, an 1889 Marriage Record in San Giovanni in Marignano (Rimini/Forli) indicates he was born in San Giovanni...

[As a side-note, Pippo helped me (tremendously) with a link for some old Parish records there in another string...]

https://www.antichidocumenti.sm/archivi ... G&MPasso=3

Serafino's son, Domenico DeLuca, was born Sept. 10, 1899, in San Giovanni in Marignano. For some reason I can't load the file (I keep getting an FTTP error), but here's the link (No. 128)...

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 05&lang=en

Domenico emigrated to the U.S. in November, 1921 (S.S. Taormina - see line 11). In it, he states the name of the nearest relative he left in the country whence he came was "father Serafino" in "S. Giovanni". This SEEMS to suggest Serafino was still alive in 1921...

Recently, someone in SLC Utah checked the Rimini Death Records from 1918 -1929 and didn't find Serafino's Atti di Morte. So, maybe he lived beyond 1929. Or does anyone here think it's at all possible Domenico would refer to a deceased parent on the Ellis Island manifest? That would appear very strange, but one never knows...

The other question I have is re: Serafino's Birth Record. Despite the "family" record that says Serafino was born in 1856 in San Marino, his Atti di Matrimonio indicates that he was born in San Giovanni in Marino. Also, that he he was born in 1860 (1889 - 29 years old stated = 1860), not 1856. I realize that age variations in these records can be widespread. Even so, I found this at the Antenati web-site for Rimini:

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/archivi ... 7/?lang=en

Specifically, this:

Civil registry

The Rimini State Archive holds the Civil Registry files of the Rimini Province (1866-1910). In the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Rimini, the Napoleonic Register of Births (1806-1815) concerning the Municipality of Rimini is preserved, as well as a register of the Municipality of Montescudo; the Birth Certificates (circa 1777-1894) with extracts of birth and baptismal certificates.

Does anyone know how to access, or solicit, these records? Specifically?

Thanks.
Mark

Here is the image of Domenico's birth act... in 1899

In it, Serafino is stated as age 39.

I do not believe that Domenico's father was deceased if he referenced him on the ship manifest.

Thanks, T. I don't know why the site didn't let me load the record, but I do have it in my files.

Also, thanks for the feedback on the ship reference. Although I 100% agree with you, not being able to find Serafino's death record is driving me a bit batty. However, now that I know he isn't in the FS records thru 1929 I guess that means the only way is to try submitting to the Civil Vital Records office of San Giovanni in Marignano. That's where all of this differs for Serafino's Birth Record, which seem to be in this so called "Historical Archive"?

Thanks as always, T! We already made a submittal to the State Archives and, believe or not, they have actually confirmed receipt of same. Is a start...

Hello, Forum-

Can anyone tell me which of the dropdowns would be the correct submittal e-mail for the town of San Giovanni in Marignano? The State Archives in Rimini directed us to them (but without specific contact info).

https://comune.san-giovanni-in-marignano.rn.it

Is it one of the drop-downs on the "uffici e servizi" choice? Or maybe the "Atti publicci" choice?

Thanks,
Mark
