Godparents

What do Italian children call their Godmother and Godfather? We are about to baptize my son and I am looking for something different besides the names we use in French. (That's from my side! LOL!) Thanks!

Tinitime Welcome to the forum
I'm not sure about the spelling but my children refer to their Godmother as Padina and Godfather as Padino.

When I speak to my chidren's Godmother I say Comare and their Godfather - Combare

Maybe some of the other members could correct the spelling for me.

May God Bless the wee one who is being baptised.

Hope this helps

Godmother - Madrina

Godfather - Padrino

Comare and compare ( cumare and cumpare and others ) is regional usage, dialectal in origin.
