Surname - Romeo and Biletti (sp?)

Post by scuderiaf1 »

Hello all and thanks in advance,

I am starting my genealogy search on my fathers’ side.

Father: Frank Romeo
Born: Sept 12 1911
Location: Youngstown Ohio

Franks Father: Joe/John
Franks Mother: First Name ( will have that soon ) Last Name Bilet, Biletti (SP?)

Siblings included:
Karl (Carl)
Albert
John or Joe

Vivian (possibly different father )
Grace (possibly different father )

Frank was the oldest. Frank and one or more of his brothers were placed/sent or cared by the state after the Franks father died.

Any information or guidance is appreciated.

Regards,

Tony Romeo

Tony,
Most folks would recommend that you gather as many US
records as you can, taking the clues from census, military
& immigration information you can order some key vital
records.
Once you've confirmed names/dates/relationships,
if you've found the town(s) of origin in Italy - you can
start your Italian research.
Sound OK?

Nice vj..

I see you've been busy as usual! :D I'm sure Tony will be pleased.

Tony, how are you going to keep track of all this info? Do you have a software program like PAF or FTM that you can enter it all into? If not, I would suggest getting one.

Once you have collected as many US documents as possible, and have determined town of birth in Italy, you may want to consider either renting microfilms from your local Family History Center or writing away to the comune where they were from to obtain birth information. This will take you to the next generation in your tree and confirm birth dates.

Lets see if there are films available from your town.

Tony,

Official website of Panettieri
Very impressive site for a village of about 375 residents; contains a history of the village, pictures, etc. plus an enchanting melody which plays on each page of the site.
