Virzi from Alcara (Restifo, Bontempo, Mellino, DeVita)

I'm looking for any additional information on the Virzi family from Alcara Li Fusi, Messina, Sicily, some of whom emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio around 1906. Here's what I know:

Gaetano Virzi married Maria Anna Restifo in Alcara. They had at least one child, Felice, who married Maria Rosa Bontempo (b. 1851) on 21 May 1871.
She gave birth to Gaetano Bontempo 5 days later, then 3 more children, Maria Anna, Vincenzo (b. 9 Sep. 1874, d. 1 Jan 1944), one whose name I don't know. All but Gaetano were named Virzi. (Gaetano Bontempo married Vincenza Cancelliere (b. 1882) on 1 Aug. 1897 & had 10 children. Some of the Bontempo family emigrated to Cleveland also and some still live there.)

Vincenzo Virzi emigrated to Cleveland Ohio via Ellis Island and married Maria Giuseppa Mellino (b. 6 May 1884, d. 29 Nov. 1914) and had 3 children, Yolana, Felice (a/k/a Philip, my grandfather) and Nicolo. Maria died the same year Nicolo was born, and Vincenzo remarried another woman named Maria. They had 2 more children, Anna (b. 21 Mar. 1924) and Joseph Vincent (b. 31 Jan. 1932). I believe their descendants still live in Cleveland as well.

Maria Mellino arrived at Ellis Island from Palermo aboard the ship Perugia, on 27 May 1906. The record lists her as single, and I have not found any emigration, birth or death records for Vincenzo Virzi.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My family came from Messina province (Alcara specifically) to Cleveland. I don't know whether anyone but Vincenzo & Maria came to the US, so I'm looking for relatives either here or back in Sicily.

On Maria's 1906 manifest she is travelling with her aunt Maria Rosa Bontempo (Vincenzo Virzi's mother). Maria Rosa is joining son Vincenzo at 140 St Cleveland, and Maria Mellino is joining her brother Vincenzo Mellino at the same address.

I'm trying to figure out if the names are from the same families and, if so, when the spelling changes happened. I see that there are lots of "Davetas" in the Ohio area as well.

I am researching the Rundo family from Alcara Li Fusi and have found that I have ancestors with the last name of Bontempo and Restifo. Here is what I know...

Giuseppe Rundo married Maria Bontempo. There son was Vincenzo Rundo who married Anna Satullo.

The 1st of December 1842 at 4.00 pm, before Nicolò Arzino, Mayor and Official of the Vital Records Office of the town of Alcara, District of Patti, Province of Messina, appeared Giuseppa Pateriniti, age 58, midwife, resident in the same town at Spadare Street, who presents a baby boy, and she declares that the baby boy was son of Maria Bontempo, age 20, resident in Alcara at Mandrazza Neighbourhood, and Giuseppe Rundo Crapuzza, age 32, spindle worker, resident in the same street, husband of Maria Bontempo. Again she declares that the baby boy was born on 30 November of the same year at 4:00 am at his parents’ home. Finally she declares to give him the name of Vincenzo.
Margin notation indicates that the priest of Alcara baptized Vincenzo Rundo Crapuzza on the same day, month, and year.
This testimony was in the presence of Nicolò [unreadable last name] (age 40, joiner, resident in the same town at Figurella Strett) and Nicolò Restifo Barra (age 43, countryman, resident in Alcara at [unreadable street]).
This act has been signed by the Official of the Vital Records Office because the declarer and witnesses are illiterate.

Birth Record of BONTEMPO MARIA (#65)
The 30th of August 1824 at 12.00 pm, before Giuseppe Aurizi, Mayor and Official of the Vital Records Office of the town of Alcara, District of Patti, Valley of Messina, appeared Serafina Restifo, age 55, midwife, resident in the same town at Hospital home, who presents a baby girl, and she declares that the baby girl was daughter of Rosa Restifo Olivera, age 25, resident in the same town, and Giuseppe Bontempo, age 23, carpenter, resident in the same town at at Figurella Neighbourhood, husband of Rosa Restifo Olivera; again she declares that baby girl was born on 30 August of the same year at 9:00 am at her parents’ home. Finally she declares to give her the name of Maria.
Margin notation indicates that the priest of the same town baptized Maria Bontempo on the 30 of the same month and year.
This testimony was in the presence of Gaetano Zingales (age 40, spindle worker, resident in the same town at Mandrazza Meighbourhood) and Francesco Araca Minnamà (age 43, countryman, resident in the same town at Annunciata Neighbourhood).

Sorry to intrude into your post, but the name Virzi caught my attention. My paternal grandmother was Maria Virzi daughter of Carmello Virzi and Crocifissa Acquisto. Maria was born in the commune of Canicatti Sicily in 1909. Do you know if the name Carmello crops up in the tree you have researched so far?
