I NEED help translating birth records from Casalvieri
I am just starting out translating some parish records from Casalvieri.
I would like someone to translate this birth record index and birth record.
The surnames are all so new to me, so I need a good reference point.
On the birth act, I would like to have an Italian version typed out, so I can clearly see how the words are spelled, and a English version.
On the birth act perhaps put in parenthesis or Bold the words, that are hand written in, so that I can learn the words on other birth acts.

I really appreciate any help you can give me.
Regards

I can read about half of it, but some of the surnames are difficult. IF someone could just give me a directory on the birth act.
Underline the parents names, the child's name, the dates, ages and places.

The heading of the columns are:
N.ro d'ord. = Nr.
Cognome e Nome dei nati = Name and Surname
Cognome e nome dei genitori = Parents' names and surnames
Giorno della nascita = day of birth
Osservazioni = Notes

Re: I NEED help translating birth records from Casalvieri
Thank you so much Tessa78
These civil records are abit different from Parish records.
Also, I found another Script help site that I am learning from.
http://script.byu.edu/italian1/en/welcome.aspx
I was a bit confused about the Don Angelo Carlo ( don sometimes ia the name of the priest) Is it really talking about the priest in Casalvieri?
So if understand it correctly Don Angelo Carlo Zincone is the father of the child born?
I am going to extract lots of these records and want to learn it correctly from the start.

Don before the name usually indicates a person of some importance in the town.

Re: I NEED help translating birth records from Casalvieri
Don and Donna were honorary titles given to people that were recognized worthy of respect. Donna is still used as title for the wife of the Italian President of the republic.
Don is also used as prefix for the name of a priest, instead of Padre.

Re: I NEED help translating birth records from Casalvieri
thanks a million Liviomoreno
now we all know that Don and Donna mean the parents of the child were important.
what is the difference between don and domino. I thought that the domino ment a version of Sr. or Mr.

Re: I NEED help translating birth records from Casalvieri
Don and Donna are abbreviations of Dominus and Domina.
Dominus derives from "dominare"= "to dominate", so it is a version of Mr. but more properly of Lord...
