Info Needed--Surname from Rome--Moscato/Moscati (Pre WWII)

Post by Jejo »

Does anyone have any ideas (aside from standard databases) where I might get information on some families who lived in Rome, Italy pre-WWII. The names are Moscato and Moscati. They were taken from the Jewish quarter in 1943 and interred in Auschwitz where all of them perished. I'm researching my own family surname and am interested in finding information about these families, possibly contacting living relatives.

Looks like you are trying to gather information for an organization or a project of some sort. It might help is you provide some information about the "database of remembrance". Might make potential informants more comfortable about where the informaiton is going and for what purpose. Just a suggestion.

Particuarly, I need information about the Jews of Rome, specifically the Moscato or Moscati families of Rome. A number of people are working on gathering information on Holocaust victims before the information is forever lost. In particular, little is known about the Moscato/ti from Rome who were sent to Auschwitz. Please help if you have information so that it can be entered into a database of remembrance.
Hi There,

Here are a few links about Italian Jews. I hope it helps.

I hope some of these help.

My father-in-law was an Italian Soldier and he was captured and put in a Nazi Prisioner Camp.

I wish you luck with your project.

Thanks to those who are answering my post and for all the suggestions. Please keep the suggestions and insights coming. I have information from a really reliable source that not much is known about these particular families--the Moscato & Moscati families of Rome, taken to Auschwitz in 1943. So my information will need to come from people who might have first-hand information or research techniques that don't include databases because there just isn't any info on them about these people.
