Moreno,
Welcome. We are probably distant cousins. I am working on Italian Citizenship therefore my research has been very specific, that is not general genealogical research. I needed information specific to my grandfather, Paolino Panelli, born 1881 immigrated to US 1903. His parents were Giovanni Panelli, Capannori, born appro 1850's, Angela Micheli born 1850's. I think I have birth info on several Panelli's from Capannori, but haven't catalogued them.
My grandmother, Amata Antongiovanni, is also from Capannori and have extensive detail on her family and have been there with her family.
Hopefully your father is still alive and able to give you information.
Tell me what you know.
Nello Panelli

The are MANY Panelli's in the Commune of Capannori, province of Lucca. I notice you are from San Jose. My name is Nello Panelli. I had a cousin Fred Panelli, who lived in the Bay Area.
My Grandfather was born in Capannoi in 1881. He was from a large family. I have been doing very specific researching on "Panelli" and have not recorded what I did not need. Get me a some specific in re Fernando Panelli And I'll look at my notes from a recent seach of the 1900's. Year of birth, Immigration date. Gid he live in Californa? Where? I'll ask my mother if she recalls a Fernado.

I know it has been a decade, but hopefully you still check this. Fernando Luigi Panelli, my grandfather, was also known as Fred. He was born July 28, 1933. He passed away in September 1976. He had three kids (Susan, David, and Michael). His father, also Fernando Panelli, was born in 1902 and died around 1947.

Hello cousin,
Yes, I believe I met your grandfather in Bakersfield, CA in the early '50s'. He was a few years older than me. 5 or 6 yrs older. Your great grandfather and my grandfather were related. Cousins I think. I remember the names Fred and Virginia.
Did your grandfather have a sister? Seem to recall that. Name, Pls.
My sister is 4 years older than me, I will see her in a week or so and will ask her what she recalls. My mother, not Panelli blood, was well versed no linage. She passed at 98 3 years ago.
Hope this is helpful.

As to the Fernando Panelli birth in 1902, if he was born in Italy (Capannori) you will need to go directly to the comune for such a record, as Capannori Birth Records for the years 1900-1903 are not available online. At least that's what my research over a period of 2+ years in Capannori has shown me.rcollins41 wrote: 03 Jul 2017, 22:01Nello,Nello-LosAngeles wrote: 09 May 2007, 03:13 Mike,

Re: Stuck, Can't find marriage record
You mention that you have copies of your immigrating ancestors birth records from Italy, correct?
Do you have official extracts of these births sent from the comunes? These will sometimes have annotations, indicating marriage status. If there are no annotations, then perhaps you are right, that the marriage occurred in the US.

I have had the experience of asking state and local governments for different civil records, and getting a 'no record found', but then asking again later, and actually finding what I wanted! It really matters who you ask, so keep at it.

My grandfather had a sister named Lucille. His mother's name was Virginia Franzoso, though.Nello-LosAngeles wrote: 05 Jul 2017, 18:25 Rcollins
