Hi:

What an interesting story. I too lived in New Rochelle for 18 years. My grandparents are burried in HolySeplechure cemetary on Mt. Tom Road. I knew about the Forresters Club but not the ones you mentioned. Many of the family names mentioned in the various translations are still around ( I taught high school there and the names "ring a bell". You might look in the white pages for New Rochelle and contact a descendent who might have some additional info. or might have a copy of the book you are looking for.

Good luck in your research.

The mine was a fun ride straddling the moving benches where you go up to go down and down to go up (clever way they made it easy for the mules to pull the ore). I am sure you have visited there but just in case, the nearby indian national park in Spring is gorgeous.=Peter=
Hi Peter, would you believe that I never heard of Bizbee? I did a search on the computer and found out that it was way down south of the state, almost to the Mexico border. Someday, I would like to visit Mexico just to see it, so maybe eventually, I'll go though Bizbee.

I ordered the book on New Rochelle that one of the members wrote about in his reply to me. It should be coming this weekend and I'm so looking forward to receiving it.

I hope that you had a great weekend.

I forgot to add, Angie was from New Rochelle, and her maiden name was D'Onofrio. Her parents were Frank and Prudenzia Fantetti D'Onofrio, and her siblings were sisters Lee Catani, Gloria Vitro, Anne Prunesti, Mary Colombo, and Jeanne Santoro and brothers Carl and Peter D'Onofrio.

while i know these posts are 9-10 years old..I just found this site.. many of the people and places are very familiar to me.. i have been looking for family and friends from New Rochelle.. Glad to know that there are a couple of books out there and excited to read.. MY aunt Millie owned a store across the street from Vicarros Pizza . Her store was a small grocery but she made in my opinion the best " Wedges" in town . My grandmother was Rose Renna..I practically lived at the store.. i just today found some cousins from my father side of the family that i never knew... New Rochelle was the best place a kid could grow up in!!

Just ordered your book on Amazon. Thank you so very much for preserving these memories.

By the way, if you're like me, you've had to hunt for the recipes our nonne made for us all those years ago. Now, they're all in one place and more. A lovely Italian American (Barese) girl has started www cookingwithnonna.com. it's a huge success, and all the foods we loved are there, along with the nonne too.
Ciao.
