grazie mmogno...
however, I meant resources related to earlier times than the Napoleonic archives, specifically the Onciario. I have found online a few towns that display the contents of the Onciario, but majority of the data eludes me

Re: Catasto Onciario
Be careful what you wish for. I struggled with an Onciario for years before finally consulting other contemporary sources and realizing that the population coverage wasn't anywhere close to 100%.
On the one hand, I was relieved as it explained a number of otherwise irreconcilable contradictions with the Napoleonic record. On the other hand, it introduces that element of doubt into lineages I thought were settled.

Re: Catasto Onciario
Hi everyone! Does anyone know if Catasto Onciario records are available to view online for any of the following towns?
1) Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Caserta, Campania
2) Orta Nova, Foggia, Puglia
3) Troia, Foggia, Puglia
4) Campofelice di Roccella, Palermo, Sicilia
I searched online for all 4 towns but couldn't find anything... wasn't sure if I missed it! Thanks so much!

Re: Catasto Onciario
The Catasti Onciari of the Kingdom of Naples are generally kept in the State Archives of Naples, but some are also in other State Archives, it is necessary to check the holdings of each AdS, or in the Municipal Archives (generally you can find the copy of the Catasto that was kept by the Municipality/University that compiled it.
See the link/list inserted by mmongo.
- Santa Maria di Capua is at the AdS of Naples (1754-60);
- San Pietro in Corpo is at the AdS of Naples (1754);
- Troia is at the AdS of Naples (1745);
- Orta in Capitanata (?): at the AdS of Naples is not there. Probably it was not formed, or for its formation was merged with another Municipality/University.

Hi mmogno! Wow, these resources are absolutely fantastic! Thanks so much for the link to the "master list" for all the locations - that book looks great too! Thanks again!

Ciao Luigi!! Thank you so much for the background information, and very much for the breakdown of all the towns I asked about, much appreciated!! It sounds like the Catasto was taken between 1745 and 1760, depending on the town.
Luigi, it is a shame the Catasto was not taken about 50 years earlier - otherwise, it would be extremely helpful for our purposes!! (Unfortunately, since it was completed in the mid-18th century, there would be no way of knowing whether any "di Gennaro" were related to Andrea or Francesco Antonio.)
Thanks so much again for the info, Luigi!!
Re: Catasto Onciario
Does the Catasto of Monticelli in Esperia even exist? I cannot find it anywhere. Not even in the Archive of Napoli website. There is only Roccaguglielma and San Pietro in Curolis. The archivist can’t seem to find it either.
Re: Catasto Onciario
Itrijay,
Which years are you searching for?
Monticelli was, many times, grouped into San Pietro over the years.

Re: Catasto Onciario
Monticelli at the time of the Catasto Onciario was united with San Pietro in Curolis and thus is the same Catasto.
It is corserved at the State Archives in Naples.

Re: Catasto Onciario
I checked the Catasto of San Pietro in Curolis and Monticelli is not there.
Re: Catasto Onciario
Monticelli and San Pietro in Curolis were not united until 1808.
Re: Catasto Onciario
Luigi, for some reason I cannot access this website (The Archivio di Caserta). Can you check and see if Monticelli is housed there. (Even though you said it was at Napoli. I can't find it at Napoli.)luigirusso007 wrote: 20 May 2023, 17:39 Monticelli joined to S. Pietro in curolis
